straight-talk:
The FAY might be considered a poor man's HMI. It delivers the same
daylight balanced punch as an 2K HMI by using a lot more wattage.
The 9-light FAY has nine 650watt par bulbs for a total of
5850watts of daylight balanced light, delivering as much
as 720 foot-candles of daylight-balanced light at 20 feet. The two
side columns can rotate to adjust the spread and intensity of the
instrument's light pattern.
Place a 1/4 diffusion gel in front to reduce multiple shadows.
Keep cloth flags, nets, and silks well away from a 2Kw
instrument. They can char and burn! Use gels in 4x4 open frames.
Each of this fixture's circuits draws 1950 watts.
If powering from a home/business, plug each
circuit
into a separate branch circuit without any other load.
This FAY light actually uses an FBE globe. The FBE
is identical to the FAY with the exception of screw contacts instead of
ferrule.
To make the best use of the FAY light (and any high-wattage fixture) with
household power, you should have some
knowledge of basic electrical calculations and on-set technique.
